Would you benefit from seeing a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist?

Being a pelvic floor physical therapist, I personally think everyone would benefit from seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist at some point in their lives because, let’s face it, everyone has a pelvis. But, let’s be honest….. not everyone needs to see one. However, thanks to toe Cozeans who created this great screening tool, we now have something that can show if a person should see a pelvic floor physical therapist.

Pelvic floor physical therapy is different than regular physical therapy. Yes, we assess your movements. Yes, we look at your whole body. Yes, we are trained how to treat your pelvic floor if you need it treated.

If you have any issues with peeing (pee might come out when you don’t want it to, it might hurt to pee, pee might not come out when you want it to), pooping (poop might escape your body when you don’t want it to, it might be painful to poop, you might have to really push to have poop come out), and/or penetration (sexual activity might cause you pain, you might not be able to achieve an orgasm, you might not be able to participate in sexual activities when you want to), then you should see a pelvic floor physical therapist. Also, if you have back, hip, and/or abdominal pain and no one else has been able to help you, then you should also see a pelvic floor physical therapist.

Reach out to me if you need help finding a good pelvic floor physical therapist. A good therapist should ask you about all of the areas listed above. They should do an internal assessment if it is appropriate. They likely will not be affiliated directly with insurance because they do not want insurance to dictate how they treat you. They will not just hook you up to a biofeedback machine and call it good. They will not just give you the dreaded word… KEGELS.

You deserve good education and good treatment. It is YOUR body so do not settle for someone who cannot get you better and resolve your symptoms!
